An Active Week at Twin Rocks

A LOT of wonderful things are happening in camp this week:
  • We have a great group of 130 students, teachers, and parents here from Mabel Rush Elementary School in Newberg, Oregon, for their annual outdoor school (above). They 're a fun group, here to explore nature and enjoy time together. This is their 11th straight year having outdoor school at Twin Rocks!

  • We poured the footings to our "Quadplex" cabin (right) - a 2,200 square foot building that will house two groups of 8 campers at our youth camps, or 4 couples/families at our family camps. For those of you who have been here before, the first Quadplex is being built next to Cammack Cabin, overlooking the outdoor volleyball court.

  • A group of roofers from Jim Fisher Roofing & Construction is in camp re-roofing five of our Cabins of the Trees. We have over 40 roofs in camp, so it's hard to keep them all in top condition, but with Jim Fisher's help we're about caught up! Here are before/after pictures:

  • And we are constructing a courtyard on the east side of the Shelter that will enable campers to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. And it will include a fire pit where cabin groups can enjoy late night marshmallow roasting and singing by the campfire. This courtyard is being constructed in memory of Irene Haisch.

It's a very hectic - and fun - time in the life of Twin Rocks Friends Camp!!!
